There is always hype around the release of almost any Apple product,
most notably the iPhone and the iPad. Last year Apple fans were drooling
over the release of a massive upgrade of the iPhone. They were
expecting the iPhone 5 to be released but to their disappointment, the
iPhone 4s was Apple’s product of choice. Nevertheless, it was
well received. There were not much hardware changes, except processor
and camera but the software received major upgrades (not to the user
interface though). Siri was the hit.
This year Apple fans are hoping the company will deliver a zinger to
the smartphone world again with even bigger upgrades, both to the
software and to the hardware. Not only does Apple wants to make the
smartest smartphone again but it wants to make the thinnest smartphone
ever. According to bgr.com Apple is seeking to make a phone thinner than
8 millimeters.

Apple is apparently messing around a new display technology that
would place touch sensors inside color filters, in a way that would not
sacrifice the touch screen’s responsiveness. Apple is reportedly trying
to make a thinner battery as well. If this new screen technology and
battery are implemented in the new iPhone, expected to be released later
this year, it could make it noticeably thinner. According to
AppleInsider, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the reports
are true. He thinks a thinner battery and the use of metal for the
iPhone’s case instead of glass could make the next iPhone just 7.9
millimeters thick, down from 9.3.
Take these reports with a grain of salt but Apple has done it before
and they can do it again. If it doesn’t do it again, it would have a
tough time explaining to their fans base because they will be pissed.
